Coen's First Dance

This picture was so cute I had to share right away.  We went to a wedding reception yesterday afternoon and Coen and one of his nursery friends were convinced to dance...mostly they just looked around at all the people looking at them.  Unfortunately Coen had just woken up from a nap when he came, so he is rather underdressed for the occasion.

Also, here's one of my two men in their matching "shiny vests," compliments of Coen's Grandma Myler.  You can't see them in this shot, but Conrad did wear shoes to match Coen's.

Our Doings

Just to update you, since my last post, we:

Camped at the beach.

Discovered chocolate pudding.

Grew lots of pretty flowers.  (And vegetables, but somehow I never take pictures of those.)

Became obsessed with hats.

Helped some sweet friends move on.

Saw Niagara Falls.

Danced at Abe and Caitlin's wedding (and somehow escaped without any proof of it).

Learned more about potty training.

Visited with Grandma and Grandpa McKnight and Auntie Rachel.  (And watched way too many Mr. Bean clips together.)

Camped in West Virginia with some cool cats.

This gorgeous mountain was right behind our campground.  Awesome!

Cleaned up our messes.

Family photos!

The long-awaited picture of Conrad's shed.  Notice how is tall enough to stand up in and has three windows, unlike our old dilapidated shed on the right.
Okie-dokie, so I've been a bad, bad blogger and to catch everyone up on some of our doings I will start with a bunch of pictures, since those say a thousand words apiece anyways!

Our little chef is very upset here that I am photographing him rather than lifting him up so he can stir whatever's in the pan with his mighty whisk and spatula o' power.  Conrad actually replaced this stove with a fancier one in January.

Father and son in suspenders.  This is the real reason Conrad needed a son.  Now we just need a bow tie for the little man.  (Ignore the date stamps on all of these, by the way!  Our camera decided to go back in time.)

Rockin' out to some primary songs while Mommy tries to get ready to teach singing time.  (The really funny thing is, he climbed up on that chair and turned the keyboard on all by himself.)

Mountains, how I miss them!  I flew out to Utah the weekend before Valentine's Day to see my grandparents.  I also took a couple of detours to BYU to visit with my awesome sisters Crystal and Rachel.

Foreground:  me wearing my dress that I made when I was going crazy sitting at home on all those snow days.  Background:  The lobby of the JFSB, where Conrad proposed to me three years ago!

Coen discovers his great-grandpa, and suspects that somewhere in that mound of pink frillies is a baby cousin.  He was so excited about Lydia, and kept trying to give her hugs even though they made her cry.

"Great-Grandmas are nice, but can't I play with the balloon some more?"

Fine dining at the fancy new Cannon Center!  Coen was very excited about the milk dispensers and the mango smoothies.
We also had dinner with Laura's family while we were in Orem, but I didn't remember to take any pictures!  It was super fun to catch up with her and look at pictures of her wearing 7 layers of socks to keep warm while she was serving in Russia.
Me carrying Coen in our beautiful new backpacking child carrier.

We have been enjoying our early Nashville spring by taking some hikes...
...and working in the garden.  We read in the New York Times that covering the ground with newspapers...

...and piling compost on top of that makes for fewer weeds in one's garden.  So we thought we'd give it a try.  Good thing I let Conrad buy that ghettolicious looking trailer last year!  It has served us well.

I cut off all my hair and got a new 'do with the help of my awesome neighbor, Farrah!

Coen, trying to pick out the chocolate chips from the chocolate chocolate chip muffin batter.  He came by it honestly.
Conrad is on a pediatrics rotation.  So far he says the kids are fun, but that all the screaming in his ear has made anesthesia look better and better.  We finally got Conrad some glasses, and when he wears them to work with his white coat and bow tie he is the cutest almost-doctor I know.

Mark Bittman wrote about McDonald's oatmeal last week, so now I am on an oatmeal kick.  I'm also reading Michael Pollan's Omnivore's Dilemma, and starting to read a book about potty-training...

Happy Ides of March!
